ABOUT MOOK

Every connection we make is rooted in trust, respect, and a commitment to showing up for youth and families.

Support starts with showing up

MOOK (Mitchell Outreach, Opportunity & Konnection) provides culturally respectful, relationship-based support for Indigenous youth, families, and communities within Treaty 8 territory and beyond. Our work includes safe transportation, mentorship, and practical support that helps young people stay connected to opportunities and the people around them.

We believe trust is built over time. It grows when someone listens, follows through, and keeps showing up. That consistent presence is at the heart of how MOOK works with youth and families: meeting people where they are, respecting who they are, and building relationships they can rely on.

Through connection and community, MOOK aims to help young people build confidence, strengthen their independence, and see more possibilities for what comes next.

Meet Derrell “Mookie” Mitchell

Derrell “Mookie” Mitchell is the founder of MOOK. A former CFL player and Hall of Famer, he brings more than a decade of experience in youth care to his work with Indigenous young people, families, and communities.

Mookie knows the difference a trusted adult can make. People who showed up for him helped shape his own path, and that experience continues to guide the way he works with youth today. He believes support begins with listening, building trust, and being someone a young person can count on over time.

Through MOOK, Mookie brings that belief into action. His goal is to create meaningful connections and opportunities while treating every young person with respect for who they are and where they come from.
